Crown & Bridge

When a tooth is too damaged for a filling, or when missing teeth need to be replaced without implants, crowns and bridges offer a durable, natural-looking solution. At New York Dental Group, we craft custom restorations designed to blend seamlessly with your smile.

Dental Crowns

A crown (or "cap") covers an entire tooth to restore its shape, size, strength, and appearance. Crowns are recommended when a tooth is severely decayed, cracked, or weakened after a root canal, or to hold a dental bridge in place.

We use high-quality porcelain and zirconia crowns that mimic the color and translucency of natural enamel. The result is a restoration that is both strong and beautiful.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge literally bridges the gap left by one or more missing teeth. It consists of two crowns (anchored to the natural teeth on either side of the gap) with a false tooth — called a pontic — suspended between them.

The Crown & Bridge Process

1

Consultation & Prep

We evaluate the tooth/teeth and prepare them by removing a thin layer of enamel to make room for the crown.

2

Impressions

Digital impressions are taken and sent to our lab to fabricate your custom restoration.

3

Temporary Crown

You wear a temporary crown while your permanent restoration is being made (1–2 weeks).

4

Final Placement

Your permanent crown or bridge is checked for fit and bite, then permanently cemented in place.

How Long Do They Last?

With proper care, dental crowns and bridges typically last 10–15 years or longer. Good oral hygiene, regular check-ups, and avoiding very hard foods will maximize the life of your restoration.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many appointments does a crown take?
Usually two appointments: one to prepare the tooth and take impressions, and a second (1–2 weeks later) to place the permanent crown.
Will a crown look natural?
Absolutely. Our porcelain and zirconia crowns are custom-shaded to match your surrounding teeth precisely.
Is a bridge or implant better?
Implants are generally considered the gold standard for tooth replacement. However, bridges are a great option when adjacent teeth already need crowns, or when implants aren't suitable. We'll help you decide what's best for your situation.
