Implant Placement & Crown

Dental implants are the closest thing modern dentistry has to a natural tooth. From surgical placement to the final crown, New York Dental Group offers comprehensive implant care — giving you a restoration that looks, feels, and functions just like your own tooth.

What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a titanium post that is surgically placed into the jawbone, where it fuses with the bone over time through a process called osseointegration. Once integrated, the implant serves as a stable root for a lifelike porcelain crown placed on top.

Unlike bridges, implants don't require altering adjacent teeth. Unlike dentures, they are fixed in place and don't slip or shift.

Benefits of Dental Implants

The Implant Process

1

Consultation & Planning

We evaluate your bone density, take X-rays, and create a personalized treatment plan.

2

Implant Placement

The titanium post is surgically placed into the jawbone under local anesthesia. Most patients find it more comfortable than expected.

3

Healing (Osseointegration)

Over 3–6 months, the implant fuses with the bone, creating a rock-solid foundation.

4

Abutment & Crown

Once healed, a connector (abutment) is placed, followed by your custom porcelain crown — completing your smile.

Am I a Candidate?

Good candidates for dental implants have adequate jawbone density, healthy gums, and are in good general health. If bone loss has occurred (common after tooth loss), a bone graft may be needed first. Dr. Im will assess your situation during your consultation.

Implants have a 95%+ success rate and are considered the most reliable tooth replacement option available today.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the implant procedure hurt?
The area is fully numbed during placement. Most patients compare the sensation to a tooth extraction. Mild soreness for a few days after is normal and manageable with over-the-counter pain relievers.
How long does the entire process take?
From placement to final crown, the process typically takes 4–8 months, most of which is healing time. The actual chair time at each appointment is relatively short.
Does insurance cover implants?
Coverage varies by plan. Some plans cover a portion of the implant crown. Our team will verify your benefits and walk you through your options before treatment begins.
